Wine of the week:
Ant Moore Sauvignon Blanc
The 2013 vintage was spectacular for grape-growers and winemakers in Marlborough. The summer was long, warm and dry enabling even ripening of the fruit and concentration in the berries. The settled weather facilitated minimal disease pressure. The particular vineyards where the fruit was from sourced were cropped between 6-10T/Ha which married well for phenologically ripe fruit and these exquisite flavours. The nose has enticing citrus notes and tropical fruit characters edged with thyme. There are layers of complexity from the lees manipulation that makes this wine moreish on its own or with food. The palate weight has fineness with subtle acidity and excellent length.
Enjoy with cheese and antipasto, also delicious with fresh fish and leafy green salads.
