Wedding Wednesday… Featured: Eiling and Jason’s Wedding in The Knot!

July 31, 2013

We are so thrilled that Eiling and Jason’s gorgeous wedding at Saltwater Farm Vineyard is featured in The Knot! Their big day was such an honor to be a part of and we’re so happy that the rest of the world get’s to be in on all the pretty! You can see our full write up here but I think the bride’s words below set the scene even better!

Jason and I wanted our day to be the epitome of us, us to the core – not worry about tradition, the proper way, but make it our way.  Jason is a modern day man and I have more of a vintage flare.  The first big decision we had to make was the location – I wanted a barn and Jason wanted a NYC loft wedding.  As we scouted the perfect place to hold our special day, we  stumbled upon Saltwater Farm Vineyard – we immediately fell in love with the place as the steel hangar provided a modern twist to a romantic vineyard setting.  The interior was warm and cozy with high ceilings (provided the loft feel).  Once we found out that we can decorate the place “barn like” with bistro lights and vine lanterns, we knew we found the spot!  This is the beginning of our journey to combine modern setting with vintage touches throughout, resulting in a “modage” theme.  Everything from the location to the menu very much represented and reflected who we are individually and as a couple.

We wanted to make the day inviting and warm from the moment the guests were exposed to the sight of the vineyards by placing playful signs directing guests to the location and hot apple cider from local cider mill in mason jars greeted our guests as they walked towards the ceremony site.  We wanted the ceremony to be cheerful so we picked upbeat songs like Perfect Two by Auburn to walk down the aisle to as homemade cookies in the shape of the number two was distributed.

The romantic ceremony took place out in the vineyard and featured a gorgeous frame with breezy white drapes and a stunning chandelier hanging above. After the ceremony, guests were treated to a cocktail reception with blissful tunes from a 4 piece jazz band with Tara O’Grady as the vocalist.  The surroundings were filled with adorable details like a vintage dresser holding the bride’s DIY cake pop escort cards and signature drinks with lavender sprigs for her and mustache straws for his.

Working with a rich color palette of jewel tones mixed with soft lavenders, blues and greys, we created a vintage feel with the reception decor. Guest tables were topped off with beautiful floral textured linens, vintage china, gold rimmed glasses, distressed white frames as table number and filled with DIY lace candles. The floral centerpieces consisted of lavender, blue and white flowers, which was the perfect romantic mixture for a Fall wedding. Pictures of the couple and their loved ones were placed in vintage mason jars with tea lights instead of a photo album. The room lit by cafe string lights and giant vine lanterns hanging above them, guests danced the night away in flurries of manmade snow with their blinking shutter glasses and glow in the dark accessories.  Guests would take breaks to stop at the dessert bar filled with pies, cake and hot chocolate bar with all the trimmings or at the photo flipbook booth.  Both the photo flipbooks and old time hard candy favorites, Pastillines bon bons, were provided as favors.

Overnight guest were then surprised with  DIY welcome baskets at their hotel rooms with a bottle of red wine, hangover kit, snacks, custom do not disturb sign, weekend itinerary and many more treats! It was such a joyous night, filled with so much love for the happy couple. Thanks to Robert Norman Photography for capturing everything so beautifully.

A special thanks to the True Event ladies, Sarah and Caitlin, for making our vision come to life.  The two ladies were there every step of the way from brainstorming all the way down to scouting the perfect items to completing the look and of course through executing the day of the wedding.  Sarah and Caitlin were delightful to work with and made sure that we did not worry about anything the day of our wedding.  Everything came out beautifully and beyond our expectations.  A big big thank you to True Events!  Hopefully we get to work together on our vow renewal!
