This has always been a special holiday for my Irish side!  My grandfather being 100% Irish, filled with lots of tradition and pride, always celebrated this time of year.  I just love the festiveness of St. Patrick’s Day, and couldn’t be more thrilled that this year it has fallen on a Saturday.

Husband is making a huge Irish dinner today (5 corned beefs have been cooking in the crock pot since last night) and has invited over our family and friends; corned beef & cabbage, Irish soda bread, carrots and potatoes, and you can be sure there will be lots of Guinness and Baileys to finish.  Wishing everyone a great weekend filled with lots of holiday spirit (I saw a sign yesterday that said just 4 days to spring!) Cheers!

Wine of the Week… St. Patty’s Day Pick

Trimbach Pinot Blanc

$14.39

I love this Pinot Blanc, it is crisp and has great fruit and the perfect amount of acidity to pair with corned beef and cabbage.  My advice would be to go with a chilled white wine for this holiday meal (sauvignon blanc would also be lovely), however if you are a red wine person, you might try a Meritage or Bordeaux, even a Shiraz could pair nicely. Would love to know what some of your favorites were this weekend.

Winemakers Notes:

The Trimbach Pinot Blanc has a beautiful fruitiness; it is elegant and easy to understand. Ideal when poured by the glass, it is fresh and clean, medium-bodied with good fruit acidity, with a smooth finish.
